Pewsey Vale Bowls Club

About Pewsey Vale Bowls Club

We are a mixed club with men and lady members plus social members. We are affiliated to Bowls England and Bowls Wiltshire, and are members of the Salisbury and District Bowling Association.

The club was first formed in 1923 with just three rinks, situated behind the Greyhound Public House in the centre of the village. This is why a greyhound is the emblem of our club. In 1953 we moved to the present site, which gives us six rinks and a private clubhouse, with a fully licensed bar. There are ample car parking facilities alongside the green.

We welcome members of all ages, and if you don’t want to play competitively during the season we have informal Club Evenings on a Tuesday, starting at 6:15pm, and Club Afternoons on a Friday, starting at 2pm.

The club is situated in Pewsey, a village in the middle of Wiltshire, seven miles south of Marlborough on the A345.

Clubs on tour are welcome with tea provided after the game if required. There are many good reasonably priced hotels within easy distance of the club.

The club’s playing season is from 1st May to 30th September, and we welcome new members with any level of bowling experience, including none, at any time. We welcome non-playing social members and hold regular social events throughout the year.

We hold Open Days each year during May and this is your opportunity to come along and try bowling, see our facilities and meet our members. Check for news on dates and times on this website or use our Contact Us page to find out more about our club.

The Club House and bar is also available to Members for private hire.

There is always something going on at our club, with club afternoons and evenings, club competitions, and monthly social events with a member’s draw.

You’ll love meeting our friendly members on the green and at the bar.
So join us today and enjoy the many activities we have on offer.

Competitions

The men’s section play in both the Salisbury & District League and the Wiltshire four rink league. The ladies section plays in the Salisbury and District League. Regular mixed friendly matches are also played against local clubs.

There are also numerous club knockout competitions for members during the season. We run fun games and competitions, including on bank holidays and taking part in events such as the famous Pewsey Carnival.

Coaching

The club has two Level 2 coaches, Gerry Ward and David Bradbury who are qualified to coach beginners and experienced players. Coaching sessions can be arranged for individuals or for groups.

Gerry Ward will be holding  coaching sessions on a regular Thursday morning 10:30 until 12:00 p.m., which will include guidance on marking singles games.

For beginners, equipment is initially provided by the club – all you need is a flat pair of shoes.
